After hiking New Zealand we visited my best friend in Brisbane. To start with the right Australia feeling we went to the zoo and were absolutely lucky to see a Tasmanian Devil, a Wombat, a sheep shearing show and most memorable - holding a Koala in our arms. The day after this was topped by a unforgettable one-day-driving tour to the utterly outstanding O'Reilly's two bridge tree top walk. After this less than ten minutes adventure walk we had only one chance to make more of the day before sunset so we visited the Palazzo Versace at the Sunshine Coast. Having beer and cocktails we had lots of fun laughing about the World's famous tree trop walk which my friend had already warned us to be a cheat.
Leaving Brisbane and my friend way too early we flew to the west coast for our self-driving tour from Perth to Karijini National Park. On our way we had a colorful sunset at the Pinnacles Desert, we were obsessed by hundreds of flies on our walking tours along the coast or trough the Kalbarri National Park, had sunrise with dolphins at Monkey Mia beach, were snorkeling with whalesharks and had been woken up by a pack of dingos at Karijini National Park. On our very last evening on the west coast we must learn that Australia's most popular animal, the kangaroo, makes driving at night the most exhausting adventure on the southern hemisphere.
Red Centre
From the west coast our route took us to the Red Centre, where we travelled with a small group around Ayers Rock (Uluru), Kings Canyon and Kata Tjuta (formerly called as The Olgas). One night we slept in swags under the fully moon alluminated sky.
